Former Royal Palace and now the seat of parliament in Greece since 1934. Syntagma Square is the location of Plateia Syntagmatos - aka Constitution Square. Whether it is protest rallies or holiday celebrations, Syntagma Square hosts almost every aspect of Athens civic life. The local area is filled with historical, archeological, and (of course) shopping opportunities. The National Gardens surrounds two sides of the Parliament building and is the location for the nearby Zappeio Palace.
