Mount Aegaleo in Athens Greece
"Goat Mountain"
- Aegaleo – the anglicized version of the name of the mountain and often used in historical works.
- Aigaleo – transliteration from the Greek "Αιγάλεω."
- Egaleo – Sometimes used, though less common, dropping the initial "A."
- Aigaleos – Another variant that retains the Greek nominative ending "-os."
The pronunciation of "Aegaleo" (Αιγάλεω) for English is: ay-GAH-lay-oh or eh-GAH-lay-oh
On the Western side of Athens, Aigaleo divides Athens from the Aspropyrgos area and is easy to identify because fo the tan-colored rock oval shaped "bites" out of the side of the mountain.
Mount Aegaleo is directly across from Mount Ymittos on the Eastern side of Athens
