Omonoia Square

Plateia Omonias

In the Nicholas Cage book about Greece (Hellas: Portrait of Greece, published 1986), he describes how Omonia Square belongs to the average Greek and is Greek in nature, while nearby Syntagma Square belongs to tourists, diplomats, politicians, and is European in nature.

Omonia Square connects to Syntagma by two straight avenus, Panepistimiou (also called El Venizelou) and Stadiou, a distance of roughly 1,000 meters, or .6 miles.
