The oldest known photograph of the Acropolis?
It is believed to be an image taken by the French photographer Joseph-Philibert Girault de Prangey in 1842. Girault de Prangey was a pioneer of early photography and used the daguerreotype process, the first publicly available photographic process, which was widely used during the 1840s and 1850s.
