The Libyan situation continues to be compounded. Despite official declarations of neutrality by most countries, the sides drawn up seem to be:

Turkey, Qatar and Italy are backing the GNA, the officially UN-recognized government led by Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj. This gov't is only in control of a minority area of Libya and is said to be 'plagued by constant in-fighting.'

United Arab Emirates (UAE), Egypt, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and France are backing General Khalifa Haftar, leading what is called the LNA, or Libyan National Army.

The Untied States is officially in support of the GNA, matching the UN designation of al-Sarraj as the legal leader of Libya, but President Trump has also made positive statements about Khalifa Haftar.
