Skiathos, Greece
An island of the Sporades, also called Thessaly Sporades - Θεσσαλικές Σποράδες.
Skiathos means literally "shadow of Athos" referring, many scholars expect, to a legend that at the time of the peak of summer, the shadow of distant Mount Athos could reach the island.
Skiathos is famed for its beaches (Conde Nast magazine readers named Skiathos best beaches in the world in 2019) and for the thick pine foresting on the north side of the islands.
