Panepistimiou Street and Pesmazoglou at the Arsakeio School

Panepistimiou Street (University Street)

The photo shows Panepistimiou Street (University Street) in central Athens, Greece. The neoclassical building on the left is part of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, which belongs to the famous Athenian Trilogy, that is, a group of three important neoclassical buildings: the University, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library.

This area is a busy major business, cultural and academic hub in Athens. Panepistimiou Street is one of the main avenues connecting central Athens to other areas, hence the abundant traffic that is often rolling through.

A stroll down the thoroughfare reveals a mix of traditional Athenian architecture and newer structures, along with vibrant street life—plenty of scooters, taxis, and of course, pedestrians. Continue heading southeast, and you'll arrive at Syntagma Square itself.
